Hillman Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Hillman PS is seeking applicants who pursue excellence in teaching. Our vision for teaching and learning, which guides our instructional approach, focuses on teachers having high expectations, being collaborative and student-focused, using evidence-based approaches and developing supportive learning environments. Suitable applicants should be committed to putting students first in their decision making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in adhering to whole school approaches.
You will ideally possess a high level of curriculum knowledge and focus on evidence-based instructional practices to deliver excellent outcomes for all students. Suitable applicants should be committed to continuous self-improvement, developed through self-reflection, collaboration and responding to feedback.
You will ideally have experience in working in collaborative teams and value processes that utilise student data to measure student learning and the impact of teaching. We are currently working on embedding our whole school instructional framework, which is aligned to the Department of Education Quality Teaching Framework and Teaching for Impact. Strong instructional knowledge, connected to these systemic priorities, will be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will also need to be prepared to contribute to, reflect on and review whole school approaches, and work towards addressing the targets set in our school’s business plan. We are focused on strengthening our whole school approaches, such as, InitiaLit (Kindergarten to Year 2), the SmartWords Spelling program (Years 3 – 6) and Talk for Writing (Kindergarten to Year 6). We continue to work towards establishing connected whole school practices in Reading and Writing. Applicants with best-practice knowledge in these areas will be well regarded.
Delivering an orderly learning environment, through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework will be important to the role. Our matrix encourages children to achieve our core values of “Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Relationships”. Applicants are encouraged to display how they manage students with challenging behaviours in ways that preserve the integrity of the child. Our students are supported in their social and emotional wellbeing using evidence-based approaches, including the Zones of Regulation program. Suitable applicants should be culturally responsive, and possess the ability to cater for students with additional needs and have understanding and experience in Students At Educational Risk (SAER)
