We are seeking a highly motivated and creative communications professional to join our Campaigns and Projects team.
In this role you will work on a variety of public relations, community education and marketing strategies. These exciting and challenging projects include elements of advertising, brand development and community education campaigns, events, publications, and promotional activities.
This will involve writing and preparing communications materials for print and online, as well as supporting the implementation of marketing and event activities for the Department.
As a Communications Officer, Campaigns and Projects you will work collaboratively across the Communications directorate to deliver cross-functional projects. You will be responsible for managing small to medium projects and campaigns, or components of larger projects.
Highly motivated and personable, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and deliver high levels of customer service and support to business units, regional offices, and schools.

The Campaigns and Projects team are the campaign strategists, and creative and implementation experts within the Department of Education’s Communications directorate. We provide high-level corporate communications, public relations and marketing strategies and services including:
- planning and delivering communication projects, products, campaigns, and events
- brand and reputation management
- providing public relations, marketing and events advice to schools and broader business areas
- engaging with external stakeholders to deliver market research, creative production, photography, videography and more.
A key responsibility of our area includes maintaining awareness and understanding of emerging trends and issues and ensuring effective sharing of information and skills, supporting collaboration, communication and connection across the team and directorate.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
