Alkimos Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2025 school year.
Alkimos PS opened in 2016 and currently has an enrolment of around 660 students. Our approaches to teaching and learning are that our staff members understand that the quality of relationships with students is the key. Our teachers are able to adeptly engage families and the Alkimos school community, as crucial to our school's ongoing success is the extent to which this sense of belonging and connectedness can be created. Our staff strive to create a highly collaborative learning environment.

The Role
Alkimos PS is seeking innovative, enthusiastic teaching professionals with knowledge, skills and experience teaching across a broad range of year levels with a strong commitment to professional development and continuous improvement to facilitate a best practice approach towards teaching and learning.
Explicit teaching, guided by student data, and delivered using the Gradual Release of Responsibility model is important. It is also highly desirable for applicants to possess knowledge of our school-wide programmes, including Talk for Writing, Heggerty and synthetic phonics (K-3). Teachers who have additional expertise in key school approaches will be viewed favourably. These approaches include Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), co-operative learning, Paul Swan’s Numeracy threads and embedding First Steps Mathematics strategies. The ability to integrate ICT across the curriculum to enhance student learning will be looked on favourably.
A commitment to implementing whole-school curriculum policies and programs will be evident, demonstrating all teachers' capacity to be attuned to the individual needs of students, and their authentic skill to provide an inclusive, fair, and safe classroom. Underpinning our approaches is a clear recognition that students' learning outcomes and opportunities are maximised when robust non-academic strategies and beliefs are apparent. Education of the ‘whole child’ is a priority at Alkimos PS. To support this, programs such as the Berry Street Education Model, Respectful Relationships and Friendly Schools complement our approach to student health and wellbeing.
Applicants are also advised that Alkimos PS hosts a Specialist Learning Program - Autism Spectrum Disorder (SLP-ASD). It is expected that applicants strongly support the inclusive principles and beliefs of this program as students will regularly move between their homeroom and mainstream class. Successful applicants will demonstrate a capacity to cater for the needs of students within the SLP-ASD and the wider school community.
