The Education Business Services Directorate is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Principal Consultant - Freedom of Information and Information Disclosure.
As part of the role you will lead, manage and participate in issues as they arise from FOI (Freedom of Information) and legal information disclosure activities that impact on government and provide innovative solutions for consideration by the Department. You will coordinate the activities of the FOI functional area including the allocation and coordination of human, financial and physical resources. A review of systems and processes with a view to incorporate efficiencies and reduce administrative overheads into the service is a priority.
As the successful applicant you will be required to deal with all internal review matters received from applicants and external review matters received from the Information Commissioner on behalf of the Department and Ministerial Offices. In addition, you will prepare Contentious Issues Briefing Notes, and responses to Parliamentary Questions on FOI and legal information disclosure matters as required.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
