Derby District High School (DHS) is seeking an enthusiastic, efficient and organised Canteen Attendant to join their friendly school.
Derby District High School is located in attractive and well-maintained grounds and surroundings. With an enrolment of 600 students, it provides an education program for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Students attend the school from the town of Derby and outlying areas including the Aboriginal Communities of Mowanjum and Pandanus Park.
Derby District High School is located in Derby which is situated at the southern end of King Sound in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Derby is 220km east of Broome by road and is 2463km north of Perth. It was the first town settled in the Kimberley. Derby is well supported with a range of government infrastructures.

The Role
As part of a team, the Canteen Attendant's role is to prepare meals, serve the patrons of the canteen and ensure that a high standard of catering, health, safety and hygiene is maintained. The successful applicant will undertake food and stock control, including ordering and stock rotation. Other requirements of the role are cleaning the canteen, including pantries, freezers, cool rooms and storerooms as well as clearing waste to appropriate areas and ensuring that equipment and utensils are cleaned to appropriate standards.
We are seeking an individual who is able to work well under pressure and provide good customer service. Previous kitchen hand experience assisting with completing food preparation tasks and being able to operate a till and eftpos machine would be highly regarded. The kitchen is fast paced highly requiring organisation and communication skills. Applicants would be required to work during the school.
