We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School located in Wardandi Country, welcomes all children both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal from Kindergarten to Year 6 and is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Education Assistants – Special Needs to join their friendly and nurturing school support team. Education Assistants - Special Needs at Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School will support the teaching staff in the planning and implementation of engaging, challenging and supportive learning programs that give every student the opportunity to succeed.
As an Education Assistant - Special Needs at Djidi Djidi, you will, under general supervision and guidance, perform tasks that require discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes for students as determined by the teacher. You should apply techniques, skills and knowledge of relevant principles and practices acquired through previous experience or relevant qualifications. Education Assistant - Special Needs will be responsible for modifying resources to meet the specific needs of individual and groups of students. They will ideally collect data on student achievement, and behaviour in accordance with the documented plans and report their findings to the teacher, they will also be a part of the case management approach to student support services.
Suitable applicants will ideally be an effective team player and good communicator. They work with the teacher to implement specialised and general education programs to support the learning of all students. Education Assistants Special Needs should have excellent time management skills and may be required to work with a variety of teachers and students throughout the day. We are seeking Education Assistant - Special Needs who is skilled in the preparation of the learning environment and learning tasks. You will ideally have a commitment to supporting the academic, pastoral, behavioural and social needs of our students to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
It would be highly desirable for applicants to have experience in working with or being familiar with our whole school programmes which include Zones of Regulation, Berry Street, Social Thinkers and GymbaRoo. Suitable qualified Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply. Certificate III or above in relevant qualifications are desireable.
