Are you passionate about engaging and inspiring EALD students and improving outcomes for students in remote and regional areas who have recently arrived in Western Australia?
Are you looking for flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to work from regional centres or from home?
Take your teaching career online and join us as we enhance access and create a brighter future for students across Western Australia!
We are seeking to establish a pool of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers with the capacity to develop culturally safe environments and teaching and learning opportunities, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise in our EALD Outreach team during the 2024 school year. We anticipate at least one permanent appointment will be made from this pool.
The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) EALD Outreach Program provides support for recently arrived overseas students in regional areas of WA who speak English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
We are seeking highly skilled and enthusiastic primary and secondary teachers with the capacity to develop and deliver quality EALD programs suited to the online distance education context. This may include a blended learning model, using online teaching and occasional visits to the students and schools.
If you are excited about sharing your passion for EALD teaching, working collaboratively in a vibrant team environment, and learning and immersing yourself in the online teaching and learning space, this could be a role for you!
You will contribute to the co-design process to develop and deliver inclusive, culturally and linguistically responsive teaching programs, working closely with the staff in the schools, students, families, local communities, SIDE staff and other stakeholders. Your role may also include collaboration with teachers at regional schools to provide them with advice in the EALD Progress Maps and other strategies to enhance the outcomes for Stage 1 and Stage 2 students.
To be suitable for this role, you will ideally have a relevant EALD qualification and recent classroom experience in an EALD setting. High level communication skills and an ability to build excellent relationships with students, their parents and teachers will be highly regarded.

We are looking to expand our workforce of dedicated teachers by trialling a new pilot program for 2024 that will allow some of our teachers flexible home-based working arrangements to deliver education online to students across the state. Therefore, teachers in regional areas are also encouraged to apply to this pool.
