The Role
Parkfield PS is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Education Assistant – Special Needs to join their school.
We have a position vacant for a Special Needs Assistant for 10 weeks to assist a Pre-Primary student to implement a toileting plan one on one, 4 hours per day 10:00 am to 2:00pm.
The Special Needs Assistant will liaise with the school staff and parents on the delivery of the plan and collect ongoing data. They will ideally have good communication skills and be able to form a close working relationship with the student and the staff. This role would require you to be comfortable with supporting the student to toilet and support them when there are mishaps.

As a Special Needs - Education Assistant, you would use your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with teachers and other colleagues to create an inclusive education program that accommodates the needs of students. The successful applicant will use initiative to support the delivery of planned education programs, using their understanding of differentiation and intervention strategies to assist students in accessing the curriculum.
As a Special Needs - Education Assistant, you will also provide feedback on education programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress, to ensure learning targets are met. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students is desirable. Skills in personal organisation and communication, and the ability to work independently and efficiently, are highly regarded.
Applicants should possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and families and will be expected to work in an environment committed to whole school approaches and high expectations for all students. Special skill sets and/or experience in areas such as Multilit or Auslan would be advantageous.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students
