Strategic Policy is seeking to appoint a Manager – Strategic Policy to join their team. Successful applicants will provide leadership and high-quality analysis and strategic advice to the Department’s senior leadership in relation to education priorities, reforms, and initiatives.
The successful applicant will be expected to lead the development of system-wide strategies and initiatives to address complex policy issues, as well as prepare strategy and policy documents. You will establish and maintain effective communication networks and consult with key internal and external stakeholders to support the development of informed strategic advice.

This is an education that meets the needs of the learner, preparing them for future success.
The Strategy and Policy Division coordinates and develops system-wide strategy and policy and provides school and system performance data to support on-the-ground delivery of education in schools. The division coordinates high-level advice on Commonwealth-State education reforms, initiatives, and priorities. The division undertakes public school planning and provides policy advice and services to the Department and the Minister on higher education matters.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
