This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing term 3, 2024 with the possibility to increase FTE.
Halls Head College Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated School Officer to join our friendly team.
As a School Officer you will be part of the busy office team, working to deliver outcomes within deadlines in a sometimes challenging and fast paced environment. The successful applicant will ideally model effective and quality customer and administrative support service delivery and use their well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to work in collaboration with the administration team, school support staff, our school community and teaching staff.
Ideally, you will be friendly and approachable, self-motivated, organised and experienced, with the ability to work autonomously. The successful applicant will ideally possess attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, whilst being flexible and responsive to working in a dynamic workplace and as part of a team environment. Our students, staff and the wider community are a high priority for the school, so liaising respectfully and positively at all times is an important aspect of the role.
Your duties may include handling front desk enquiries and collaborating with all staff on daily operations, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality. You may use a range of computer software, such as Integris, RM Finance, Microsoft, MGM OutReach, SOBS, Consent2Go and Passtab. A positive approach and the ability to learn new skills and processes when needed, will be well regarded.
Halls Head ESC is a vibrant, caring and successful, small school for students from Years 7 to 10, with disabilities. We share a site with Halls Head College and provide a quality educational experience for all our students. Through personal learning plans and pathways, we ensure that each student will progress, purposefully, towards their own potential.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as successful during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
