Teachers and school administrators employed at Mullewa District High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $17,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
Secondary Generalist or Upper Primary Teachers are strongly recommended to apply for this position.
As a Secondary Generalist Teacher, the successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging, safe and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs. You will ideally have the ability to develop positive relationships with students and their families, implement the WA Curriculum to address the learning areas of lower secondary students in English, Maths, Science and HASS subjects. Quality Teaching is a priority, knowledge of high impact instruction and the MacqLit program is beneficial. We seek teachers who have strong classroom management and skills to engage students successfully.

It is also desirable for the successful applicant to have significant knowledge of the Aboriginal Standards Framework and working Aboriginal students and their families, an understanding of trauma informed practices, and possess outstanding behaviour management strategies including knowledge of Positive Behaviour Supports. Knowledge of developing documented plans for education, social emotion and attendance will also be highly regarded.
The location and community
Mullewa is located only 99 kilometres east-northeast of Geraldton where there is ample shopping, restaurants, beaches and other social opportunities. Mullewa is a diverse and resilient community, rich in both natural and cultural heritage. Mullewa has a swimming pool, Recreation Centre with a small gym, doctors’ surgery, hospital, two service stations - one with a mechanic, a food store, and three art galleries. Living within an hour’s drive to the city of Geraldton you can enjoy shopping, beaches, and other social activities. Mullewa is the gateway to the Murchison and some amazing wildflowers in the right season.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
