Boyup Brook District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic, hardworking Gardener/handy people for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024/2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024/2025 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.
As the Gardener - Handyperson, suitable applicants will work to provide gardening, grounds, and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. You will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management and native gardens.
Gardeners with knowledge of native gardens, handyperson knowledge and sports field line marking experience are highly regarded. Suitable applicants will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
Boyup Brook is situated in the South West of Western Australia approximately 270km from Perth.
Boyup Brook DHS is a level 5 DHS catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 with students moving on to other schools for the Year 11/12 component of their secondary education.

Eligibility and Training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
