Appointment Pool
Bletchley Park Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Gardener - Handyperson for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.
We currently have a six (6) month fixed term position available which may extend to permenancy.
As the Gardener - Handyperson, suitable applicants will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. You will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. Suitable applicants will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
Bletchley Park PS is a large level 6 school with approximately 750 students. We frequently out perform like Schools in National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and consistently perform above NAPLAN state averages. We have approximately 100 dedicated and caring staff who work in unison to meet the needs of all students academically, socially and emotionally.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- sound communication and interpersonal skills.
- experience in maintaining grounds and gardens, including turf management..
- experience in minor servicing of horticultural/gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, including the safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
