This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly effective and motivated person to join our growing team at Alkimos College as a Business Support Officer. This position provides a unique opportunity to assist the Manager Corporate Services in supporting the college’s management of the business operations and systems, to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes within the Department of Education regulatory framework.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, providing integral support to the Manager Corporate Services in a wide range of business operations such as administration, financial and human resource management. The successful applicant will ideally possess a good understanding of the relevant systems and policies required to maintain, monitor, analyse and extract information using RM Finance, RM Asset Manager, RM Billing, Recruitment Advertising Management System (RAMS) and Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), School Information System (SIS), Compass and the suite of MS Office products. Sound knowledge and experience completing the End of Month, End of Calendar Year and End of Financial Year rollovers and assisting with Workforce Management - recruitment and retention is highly desirable.
With the Stage 2 build opening in 2024 it is also highly desirable that the successful applicant possess a good knowledge of building management and the ability to liaise at a high level with the college Facilities Coordinator, and relevant stakeholders in a professional and efficient manner, particularly during the build maintenance period.
Key to this role is an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, growing secondary school context environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while effectively prioritising and meeting deadlines. You will work closely with the Manager of Corporate Services, independently and as part of the Corporate Services team. Good interpersonal skills are ideal for the role as it entails assisting a range of college stakeholders. A capacity to interact with empathy while simultaneously developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships within our college community is highly desired.
Please note that this role is a public service role (not ministerial with school holidays).
About Us
Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year we will add an additional cohort, until we reach our full complement of Year 7 -12 in 2025.
Stage 1 buildings include administration, student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, technologies, general classrooms, specialist science laboratories, nature play area and the Specialised Autism Program classroom and Homeroom. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2, (being rolled out this year), will include a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, additional student services and general classrooms.
The college places a high priority on professional learning, with a focus on a whole of college instructional framework as part of our ‘Alkimos Approach.’ A commitment to self-reflection and growth is vital. The college uses a coaching framework for all planning, review, performance development and classroom observation and feedback. Staff are expected to embrace technology and innovation and enhance their skills with technology to improve work practices. The college provides students with a range of devices available to suit the learning required. This includes laptops, iPads, Macs, PCs.
Alkimos College has high expectations of the student cohort to ensure all students are well prepared for their future, and have the opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to achieve their potential. This is complemented by a strong focus on student engagement and mental health and wellbeing, through our bespoke Anchor Program. Alkimos College has a Specialised Autism Learning Program, an academic extension pathway and in 2022 commenced the Gifted and Talented Academic Selective Entrance Program.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
- Well-developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- Sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;

- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
