Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Manager Technology and Communications.
The successful applicant should collaborate with the Associate Principal, Manager Corporate Services, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Committee and staff to strategically design, plan, implement, oversee and manage the school’s ICT network and other relevant infrastructure. You will administer risk management and contingency planning for data security, system backup and disaster recovery systems and administer the school’s network, software licensing requirements and copyright obligations.
The Manager Technology and Communications provides advice on technical issues associated with network administration and liaises with internal and external providers on ICT matters. You will manage ICT services staff and prioritise and allocate support, the ICT services cost centre, including budgeting, purchasing and reporting and ICT assets and resources, including hardware refresh cycles and disposals, software subscriptions and Service Level Agreements.
Duncraig SHS is situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip 18 kilometres from Perth. We cater for students from Year 7 to Year 12 and are a school of high standards where the care and progress of every child is our first priority. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Strategic ICT planning skills and the ability to formulate sound recommendations consistent with business plans and priorities.
- Well developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills relevant to technical support, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities and demands whilst maintaining customer service principles and practices.
- Experience in effective team leadership with proven leadership skills in managing a team and managing projects of a technical nature with an understanding of the implications of change.
- Substantial experience in managing ICT networks and projects, including strategic risk mitigation and change management.
- Considerable knowledge of software licensing and IT copyright obligations and regulations.
- Well developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to maintain collaborative working relationships and work independently.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
