The Role and our Branch
Student Achievement is seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Consultant. Student Achievement comprises the Statewide Services and Workforce Divisions, and the Principal Professional Review Directorate. Together, these areas provide a clear focus on promoting and developing excellence in teaching and leadership to support optimal outcomes for every student.

As the Consultant, you will provide effective professional and strategic management support to the Deputy Director General - Student Achievement, Manager and Principal Consultant, in relation to initiatives, programs, projects, and strategies.
In this role you will provide a high level of quality assurance to the preparation of data, research, review of briefing papers, correspondence, project budgets and confidential support documentation on behalf of the Manager and Principal Consultant. A key aspect of the role will be the provision of editorial oversight for all briefing notes, ministerials, reports and correspondence.
We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic self-starters, eager to learn and able to take on challenges. As you will be working within a team environment and liaising with key stakeholders, strong interpersonal and communication skills are important attributes.

- Demonstrated operational planning skills including the ability to coordinate, monitor, report and contribute to strategic outcomes.
- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills with considerable experience in the preparation of reports, briefings and correspondence.
- Demonstrated well developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively consult and collaborate within a team environment and with stakeholders at a senior level.
- Demonstrated understanding of the strategic requirements and direction of the Government and knowledge of Western Australia’s educational system, operations at a central, regional and school level.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
