Appointment Pool
North Beach Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

North Beach PS uses an explicit teaching approach, specifically the gradual release model. Applicants who have a background in this area are encouraged to apply. Suitable applicants should set high expectations and used evidenced based strategies and programs to inform their practice. Having the ability to interpret data and be able to respond to the evidence in ways that support the progress and growth of students is a highly valued skill. Applicants who are experienced in utilising Elastik for improved student outcomes will be highly regarded. Knowledge and experience with specific programs including Prime Maths, Seven Steps for Writing and Letters and Sounds is also valuable.
Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated, possess critical and creative thinking skills and have the capability to build positive relationships with students, other staff, and members of the school community. Applicants are asked to identify preferred teaching area as either, Early Childhood, Primary or either.

With an enrolment of close to 420 students, it serves a coastal strip which includes the suburbs of Trigg, Waterman, and North Beach. The school is located in close proximity to bushland adjoining Star Swamp which is used for teaching programs.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
