Kimberley Education Regional Office is seeking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated Participation Coordinator based in Broome.
Please note this position is full-time, however, 0.8FTE can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
The Participation Coordinator manages an assigned caseload within the West Kimberley Education Region and provides individualised case brokerage and face to face outreach support services to Compulsory School-aged Students (primarily senior secondary) who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging. The role is responsible for providing advice to students and parents/ guardians on participation matters and legislative requirements relating to final years of compulsory education.
The successful applicant will review referrals and undertake assessment of individual students’ needs, to optimise success of engagement in educational, training and employment pathways. They will develop high quality individual pathway plans, including career and transition considerations for at risk young people to make informed choices and effective transitions to a range of appropriate pathways and post-school options.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a current ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- undertake travel, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations, as required
- undertake travel in small aeroplanes to remote locations, as required
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
