Rockingham Lakes Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of highly committed and dedicated Deputy Principal for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025. One full time permanent position will commence from Term 3, 2024, as well as other opportunities that may arise during the life of this appointment pool.
In collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the Deputy Principal provides educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness. Suitable applicants should have highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment. Suitable applicants should be able to effectively communicate with students, staff and families.
Suitable applicants should display high level knowledge of the WA Curriculum and related Department of Education initiatives. The role would require you to lead Professional Learning Communities, that focus on student learning, effective lesson design and high levels of collaboration. John Hattie’s research linked to Visible Learning scaffold our school’s work in delivering improved outcomes for our students. An understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing for students and effective strategies to assist students to self-regulate are highly desirable.
Suitable applicants should also possess extensive knowledge in whole school approaches to curriculum, data analysis, and the ability to successfully assist staff with identifying key areas of focus to support the school’s Vision, Business Plan and Operational Plans. The particular portfolios of our Deputy Principals will be negotiated with suitable applicants. Strengths in early childhood and/or Years 3 to 6 as well as Literacy and Numeracy leadership would be well regarded.
Rockingham Lakes PS is an Independent Public School that opened in 2002 and is located in the established suburb of Port Kennedy. Enrolment is currently approximately 500 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
