Kimberley Schools Project is seeking a Program Coordinator to be based in Fitzroy Crossing
The Kimberley Schools Project is a collaborative partnership between the Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia, the Association of Independent Schools Western Australia, the Department of Regional Development and the Regional Services Reform Unit. The Project is designed to accelerate and intensify existing strategies to address low education outcomes in the Kimberley.
The successful applicant will provide educational leadership in the Targeted Teaching Pillar to schools in the Fitzroy Valley area Targeted Teaching Pillar. The suitable applicant will have the following key roles:
- Model and demonstrate high impact teaching approaches primarily in the K-2 area but with capacity to support K - 12,
- Coach / mentor in-school coaches to develop their coaching capacity. Over 110 teachers in the Kimberley have been trained in the Impact Cycle. Next steps for the project are to support schools to become more sustainable in their teaching practices and to build on the strong pedological support offered by the KSP since 2018.
- Work with school leadership teams to develop appropriate systems and structures to improve quality teaching.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary pedagogical approaches with a focus on Reading instruction.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- undertake travel throughout the Kimberley region
- obtain or hold a current Western Australian driver’s licence
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
