Rawlinson Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Officer to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will undertake reception duties, including greeting visitors, staff and students, answering the telephone and responding to routine enquiries and requests for information, in an efficient and friendly manner. The role also includes supporting student-related activities and assisting with student enrolment procedures.
As the first point of contact for visitors, staff and students in our Administration or Student Services office, you should have an excellent focus on teamwork, show initiative, be solution focussed and have outstanding customer service.
To be considered for this role, you should have strong organisational skills with attention to detail and having the ability to prioritise tasks with minimal supervision, or independently. As a School Officer you should interact with empathy and professionalism within a diverse school community and with a range of government and outside agencies.
The successful applicant would be required to perform duties such as assisting with the maintenance of school facilities, assets and resources, including reporting faults, organising repairs and assisting with stock takes. Experience using Seesaw, MSGU and school website maintenance is highly sort after.
The successful applicant ideally will support student-related activities such as maintaining student attendance records, generating routine reports and correspondence related to absenteeism, maintaining student medical records, preparing the newsletter and assisting with student enrolment procedures.
We are a vibrant school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in Marangaroo. Since opening we have developed a tradition of providing students with a caring, inclusive learning environment. Each and every staff member at our school supports our students socially and academically, with an emphasis on building a strong connection with family and community. Our staff focus on best possible teaching practices, using the Western Australian Curriculum and regularly undertaking professional learning. We have a multicultural and diverse school community, with 420 students and 46 separate nationalities, all of who are actively celebrated throughout our school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
