The Role and our Branch
The Commercial Services Directorate is seeking to appoint an experienced individual to work within the Commercial Procurement Services (CPS) team who is interested in and passionate about improving educational outcomes for students in public schools through best procurement practice.

The CPS team provides procurement and contract development services for all Department of Education (the Department) contracts valued at $50,000 or more. This includes the preparation of procurement documents including Procurement Plans, Requests and evaluation reports, as well as the facilitation of tender evaluations in compliance and alignment with the WA Procurement Rules.
You will provide proactive, timely advice and information to stakeholders on contract compliance, practice and management matters whilst liaising with other parties, including the Department of Finance, on matters relating to procurement and contracting. The successful applicant will maintain a focus on customer service delivery and continuous improvement of services, develop and maintain effective communication links and working relationships to ensure access to diverse specialist knowledge.
Our team is part of the Commercial and Contracting Services Directorate and the greater Finance and Commercial Services Division which provides development and promotion opportunity within the Division. Our Directorate has responsibility for the provision of support to the Department and Schools, for contract planning and management, insurance management, fleet management and commercial legal advice.

1. Demonstrated considerable experience in the development of contract documentation, tender analysis and contract administration in the context of the public sector procurement framework.
3. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to liaise, consult and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders in a range of contexts.
4. Demonstrated well developed research and analytical skills, including the ability to provide innovative thinking to complex problems and issues.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
