Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year up until the end of Term 1 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 up until the end of Term 1 2025 school year.
The role of the Technical Support Officer is to maintain the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and network, ensuring reliability and sustainability to enhance the learning environment.
Suitable applicants will provide advice on technical issues and collaborate with administration to maintain and develop the network system. Suitable applicants will also provide technical support and training to all users throughout the school site on various software applications and provide access to systems and resources. In this role, applicants will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of information systems and ICT equipment in accordance with the school business needs and Department of Education policies and guidelines.
This includes maintaining accurate records of ICT assets and resources and the development, implementation, and monitoring of a replacement plan. Suitable applicants will work as part of a versatile team, liaise with other Department of Education personnel, and communicate with external providers. Experience working in a school would be highly desirable and a thorough understanding of standard operating systems and their associated software.
Suitable applicants will work with a diverse range of people and professionals to deliver customer service. The ability to build strong relationships and to work well with key stakeholders is highly desirable.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
- Conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop innovative solutions to information technology problems.
- Ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the internet and electronic mail.
- Organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices and the initiative to work with minimum supervision.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
