About the Role

The Ideal Teacher

The successful applicant will ideally possess a strong knowledge of all key elements of Primary pedagogy and curriculum, as well as an ability to inspire students to develop a passion for learning in a vibrant, engaging, and supportive classroom.

South Kalgoorlie teachers are conscientious, flexible, and innovative. They are committed to the development of the whole child, highly reflective and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external networks to establish strong community partnerships are integral to our school.

Programs used across the school include Talk for Writing, Seven Steps, Letters and Sounds, Top Ten Maths, MultiLit, Brightpath and Ed Companion. Experience using these programs would be ideal but not essential.

Our School

South Kalgoorlie PS is a small Level 5 multi-cultural school with a friendly, supportive learning environment. We provide a learning environment in which students feel safe and supported.   • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
