Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (CHS) is seeking up a passionate, dedicated and innovative teacher to join their team in the role of Career Practitioner.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with a passion for working with students to connect their school-based learning with their pathway aspirations. The Career Practitioner should work with the school leadership team to refine current career development programs and embed career learning and work exposure activities into curricular and co-curricular programs.
The successful applicant should be innovative and have the ability to lead collaborative work across the College including the implementation of career learning programs within year groups as well as working with staff to embed career development across learning areas.
Knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of school contexts in relation to local employers, community agencies and training providers is desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, training providers, employers and industry is highly regarded.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder CHS was opened in 2006 and proudly offers secondary courses from Year 7 to 10. The school prides itself on an enrolment of over 900 students from a diverse range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, who all contribute to a vibrant and collaborative school culture.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
