Gnowangerup District High School (DHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Early Childhood Education to join their team for 2024.
We are looking for applicants that have a displayed capacity to communicate effectively with staff, students and the community, articulate a clear vision that compliments and supports the school’s excellent culture of teaching and learning. To be successful in this role, you should be confident in teaching students in the early childhood area - Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. The vacant position for 2024 is for a fixed term basis of 12 months.
Gnowangerup is a small town with a diverse population just over an hour’s drive north of Albany in WA’s Southwest. This drive is through the magnificent Stirling Ranges – the state’s premier hiking destination. Prosperous surrounding farms drive the local economy along with thriving light industrial businesses. Social life is centred around sports – in which we are very competitive, but there is also a thriving arts scene in the region. The town has great facilities including a well-stocked grocery store and a bustling coffee shop, but we’re also only a short drive from Katanning, the regional centre.
The school currently has 150 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We are committed to distributed leadership and take the wellbeing of our staff and students seriously. Subsidised Government Regional Officer’s housing is available in town.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
