Merredin College is seeking a passionate Mathematics Teacher to join their high quality regional school.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Merredin College in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure) Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school. 

About the role

As the successful applicant you will be an active contributor to the Mathematics learning area and should be reflective in your practice to support professional growth and improve educational outcomes for students. You will ideally possess a sound understanding of the Mathematics curriculum and courses, an ability to teach at an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level will be highly regarded. Knowledge and the ability to use high impact learning strategies to successfully engage students in Mathematics will be ideally evident in your practice.

The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position. You will ideally build positive relationships with your students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students and utilise evidence-based decision-making skills within your practice.

Located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high-quality educational program for 535 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are unique because our students can remain in the safety of the community in which they were born and at the same school for their entire education. Our staff and our families are true partners in the entire schooling process. We have been an Independent Public School since 2017.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
