Katanning Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Mathematics Teacher to join their high quality regional school.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Katanning Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure).  Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year.  Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.   

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

You will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice, embrace the integration of ICT to create a high quality learning environment, purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for individual student learning needs. The successful applicant will also actively collaborate in planning of curriculum and programs to address the school’s core values of Respect, Achievement, Perseverance and Tolerance, with a consistent focus on improving student outcomes.

Our school

Katanning SHS is a unique and distinctive secondary school located in the heart of the Great Southern region of WA. Students have the opportunity to engage in a challenging and comprehensive educational program within a caring and nurturing school. Student’s academic and social needs are met within a school that values Respect, Achievement, Perseverance and Tolerance. We are one year into a comprehensive school improvement program with the Fogarty Foundation, which will see a significant investment in developing a reflective practice culture, data driven decision making and high impact teaching strategies.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
