Kapinara Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
As a leader in our school context, an ability to establish positive, mutually respectful, and supportive relationships with students, staff and the broader community, is a significant requirement of this role. Suitable applicants will be able to provide evidence of exemplary personal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a cohesive leadership team.
Suitable applicants should be able to think conceptually and analytically and should have the ability to lead the analysis and discussion of student performance and student wellbeing data. Experience in working with NAPLAN data, BrightPath data (English and Maths) and the Elastik platform to inform planning, is highly desirable. As a Deputy Principal you will have experience in effectively leading change and will be expected to support the implementation of whole school approaches and initiatives, and the review and development of school level policy and planning.
As a Deputy Principal appointed in the next twelve months, your leadership will be informed by a sound knowledge of the WA Curriculum, including the principles of teaching, learning and assessment; and a knowledge and understanding of the overarching principles, practices and outcomes that underpin the Early Years Learning Framework. You should have a sound knowledge and understanding of evidence-informed practices in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, student wellbeing and student behaviour; particularly those articulated in the Department of Education WA’s Teaching for Impact resources.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
