Atwell College is seeking a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our innovative team. The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting and fostering high levels of student engagement and academic and personal achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Aligned with the strategic improvement of the College, applicants will have strong knowledge and experience of high impact teaching and learning strategies within the context of a positive learning environment.

They will ideally possess an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and have the capacity to teach across Year Seven to Twelve to ensure all students achieve strong academic and personal growth.

Atwell College is a modern and progressive government secondary school in the suburb of Atwell, south of the Perth metropolitan area. The College has grown with the area and now accommodates approximately 1000 students from within the Atwell College intake area. Our combined purpose is to provide every student the opportunity to maximise their learning, achieve their potential and transition into a meaningful post school pathway in a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
