We are looking for an experienced leader to establish the new role of Program Coordinator Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2) in 2024. The ideal applicant for the role will have a solid approach to establish routines and procedures for the uptake of Quality Teaching Strategy with an integrated focus on high quality early learning experiences for students in years K-2. The ideal applicant will work alongside a diverse group of staff to ensure high impact teaching strategies are delivered by staff consistently across Kindergarten to Year 3 (K-3) with low variance between classrooms. You will also advise and assist as needed, staff with students at educational risk, and you will provide support to Learning Support Coordinators. An additional aspect of the role is to consult with Student Support Coordinators to bring whole school programs and events together. Cannington is a wonderful place to work!

To be considered for this role, applicants should have excellent people skills and the ability to bring a team together to form a professional learning community (PLC). Experience with explicit instruction and expertise in K-2 and good knowledge about child development and an ability to communicate this succinctly to the school community will be highly regarded by the panel. The successful applicant will also need to be very organised and be able to meet deadlines. You will be required to collaborate closely with the executive team and Program Coordinator 3-6 on dedicated programs and projects as required.

Cannington Community College (CCC) caters to Kindergarten to Year 10 and located in the commercial centre of Cannington, located 8 km from Perth city. CCC is undergoing significant renewal and reinvigoration, with a focus on bringing our diverse cultures together. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g., Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
