Darling Range Sports College (SC) is seeking to appoint a permanent Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher for the start of the 2024 school year.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work across Years 7 to 12 and bring their expertise to the HASS Team, applying their knowledge of the HASS Courses and experience in teaching Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses to help our students achieve outstanding results.

Darling Range SC is located approximately 15 kms east of the city centre in the foothills of Perth. The College is experiencing rapid growth and is seen as a school of choice by the local community, and by students from across the state who enrol in our specialist sports programs.

Darling Range Sports College provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.
A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant must demonstrate a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and IS (Instructional Strategies) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
