Piara Waters Primary School (PS) is currently recruiting a high-quality Music Teacher to join their dynamic school.
We would like to appoint the most suitable Music Teacher to join our school and therefore whilst this position is initially advertised as 0.6FTE, there is flexibility for this position to be increased to up to 1.0 permanent FTE.
The successful applicant will teach music to a range of classes from Pre-Primary to Year 6. You would lead the school choirs (Junior and Senior) and support the school in putting on whole school events (e.g., ANZAC day, end of year concert). You may also coordinate the instrumental music program in the school on behalf of The School for Instrumental Music.
The successful applicant would be part of our Performing Arts team and collaboratively work with the drama teacher to ensure students receive a balanced and high-quality program across both music and drama.
The successful applicant should have a high level of Western Australian curriculum, instructional and assessment knowledge, and ideally a proven track record to work effectively in a collaborative team.
At Piara Waters PS you will be supported to use iPads as a tool for students to access the curriculum. Our teachers know their students and the curriculum well and classroom programs are responsive to these. The successful applicant will ideally work positively and effectively will all students and families and be able to differentiate the curriculum to meet differing student needs, including English As Additional Language Dialect (EALD) and neurodiverse students.
The staff are currently reviewing several school processes and applicants should be prepared to contribute to, reflect on and review whole school approaches. You should also be data literate and respond to data in ways that support student learning.
Piara Waters PS opened in February 2012 catering for students in Kindergarten to Year 6 and is located in the suburb of Piara Waters (South Metropolitan Education Region). This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
