Woodvale Secondary College (Woodvale) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Music teacher to join their friendly and dynamic team.

As part of our Specialist Music Program, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to inspire and guide students in their musical journey. The program is designed to foster a deep appreciation for music, enhance technical skills, and provide unique performance opportunities. We are looking for a candidate who not only possesses exceptional musical expertise but also shares our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful applicant will provide excellence in creating and maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment. They will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. They will recognise students as individuals and foster opportunities for all students to develop into effective young adults. It would be highly regarded for the applicant to possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. In addition, the ability to teach the Certificate II in Music and Certificate III in Music Industries would be highly valued.  Ideally the successful applicant will have experience in Protools and proficiency in sound/stage setups. Availability for music camps/tours and concerts is usually required in this role. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to take on a lead role in developing and running our Specialist Music Program.”.

Most students have the same device, and all classrooms are fitted with a seamless projection system all of which are connected to an excellent College network.

Woodvale is located some 20 kilometres north of the city of Perth, and has approximately 1400 students from Years 7 to 12. The College enjoys the expertise of highly trained staff and the stability of small staff turnover. In recent years the College has provided many nominations for Teacher of the Year Awards.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
