The Pilbara school psychology service is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed School Psychologist to deliver psychological services and support to schools in and around the town of Tom Price. The successful applicant will make up a team of two psychologists in Tom Price, and will join a collaborative, dynamic, and vibrant team of 19 psychologists across the Pilbara.
Located in the Heart of the Pilbara, Tom Price is a picturesque, modern and fully serviced town designed to blend with the natural environment. The town sits in the shadows of Jarndunmunha (Mount Nameless) amongst rolling landscapes of red granite hills, and is the gateway to the amazing and beautiful Karajini National Park. The town itself has all the amenities required for comfortable country living and all are conveniently situated centrally, along with great sport and recreation facilities. Tom Price lends itself to either the quiet, relaxed country lifestyle or is fantastic for the outdoor adventurer. Within the proximity of town is some amazing hiking, 4wd’ing, camping and swimming opportunities. And just 40 minutes from town is the natural playground that is Karajini National Park with its awe-inspiring panoramas, natural rock pools, ancient rock formations and rock art, and wildflowers, the area brims with unique, diverse, and wildly coloured landscapes.
The School Psychologist is responsible for delivering direct psychological services to identified clients, applying psychological skills and knowledge to improve mental health, learning and behavioural outcomes for students in collaboration with school personnel, parents, caregivers and other agencies. They will assist with the development and implementation of school-based support services and programs, and operate as a member of a collaborative and coordinated regional school psychology team.
The successful applicant will ideally have strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with staff, students, parents and the wider community. They will demonstrate a commitment to their own professional growth and development, and possess the ability to work together with the school administration to develop whole school initiatives to enhance the wellbeing of all members of the school community.

- Salary range of $83,312 - $92,272 (provisional registration), $96,747 - $134,404 (general registration)
- School psychologist attraction and retention incentive of $10,166 p.a.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
- High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
- hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
