Appointment Pool
Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) are seeking to establish a pool for Teachers – Instrumental Music – Percussion/Drumkit for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Suitable applicants will desirably possess a high level of teaching and performance competence of percussion/drumkit teaching.
We are looking for candidates who adopt a flexible approach to their working day and who will embrace the opportunity to work within a variety of environments. Suitable applicants should be required to teach in small groups, a range of students from Year 5 to Year 12 in a variety of schools within Western Australia. As a Percussion/Drumkit teacher, you may be expected to conduct ensembles in the schools in which you work. You should be responsible for negotiating your own timetable with the schools in your allocation.
There is a particularly close collegial relationship amongst staff that allows for significant professional growth as a teacher and musician. IMSS is a large service provider which works across metropolitan and country primary and secondary schools, providing instrumental instruction to students from Year 3 to Year 12. In addition to weekly small group instrumental lessons, students have opportunities to participate in enrichment music activities which combine students working collaboratively across year levels and with students from other schools.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
