Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English Teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant should be a dedicated and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants will ideally have excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum. You should ideally deliver content in an engaging manner, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member.
As the successful applicant you will ideally demonstrate professional knowledge, practices, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels. Experience in effectively delivering engaging English curriculum across all year groups, but in particularat both a General and ATAR level in senior school is desirable. The capacity to teach English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) will also be advantageous. The successful applicant should be versatile and committed to student achievement as well as being willing to commit to the school community.The capacity to use data and make evidence-based decisions is desirable.

The school is currently in the first year of POD (Parent Owned Devices), the ability to grow student engagement and staff capacity in the English learning area with the use of technology will be highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
