Girrawheen Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Mathematics Teacher to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to deliver engaging programs that are relevant to our students' needs. It is important to the role that the successful applicant be able to create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and caters for a range of needs so all students may achieve and progress. As a Quality Teaching Strategy Lead School, the successful applicant should be familiar with the Teaching For Impact framework and have an understanding of what effective teachers believe, know, and do to enable students to succeed.

The successful applicant will ideally have the necessary knowledge, skills, and understanding to prepare students for National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and online literacy and numeracy assessment (OLNA). Candidates who have a capacity to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) will be highly regarded. A strong understanding of Information Computer Technology (ICT) will be highly desirable. 

You will ideally support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole-school approaches and initiatives. The successful applicant should be able to build and maintain a positive learning environment, therefore effective classroom management is critical to this role.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
