This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2024 with possible extension and/or permanency 

Teachers and school administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure).  Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year.  Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.   

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

The Role

Hedland SHS is currently seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, organised and innovative PC for our Success Program as part of the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership. The Engagement Program provides students with extensive wraparound support for their wellbeing and academic achievement.

The program consists of students with a range of complex needs, requiring strategic planning to support their skills in emotional self-regulation and managing risk, as well as academic support in order to prepare them for life post-school.

The PC Engagement Programs works collaboratively with specialist teachers, support staff, and the Deputy Principal – Success to ensure authentic, relevant, meaningful and challenging learning programs are delivered.

The successful applicant would a highly effective interpersonal leader with expertise in working collaboratively with students, carers and community to co-design and implement data-driven Individual Behaviour Support Plans, Individual Pathway Plans, Risk Management Plans and Individual Attendance Plans.

They will ensure the program creates clear pathways for students into further training or employment through functional literacy and numeracy skill development, while supporting their social and emotional needs. Experience in SEN planning and reporting as well as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention will be highly regarded.
