System Response and Transformation
Program Management Office
Project Support Officer
00043873
Level 4, $87,712 - $92,057 per annum (PSCA 2022)

Advertised Vacancy Number: DOE847253

This is an initial eight (8) month fixed-term position with possibility of extension (16 months) and/or permanency, commencing ASAP.

The System Response and Transformation (SRT) division is seeking to appoint a dedicated and motivated Project Support Officer to join its Program Management Office (PMO) and to contribute to the improvement of positive educational outcomes for young people in Western Australia.

We encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.

The Department of Education’s core purpose is to provide every student with a pathway to a successful future. This is best achieved when the system, schools, students, families, communities and other agencies work in partnership.

The partnership approach is underpinned by school autonomy within a connected and unified public school system – schools know their students, families and communities best and are best placed to effect positive outcomes through local place-based decision-making.

Local planning in schools is supported by a public school system where quality decisions are made at the highest level. This includes directing resources to where they are most needed and designing new initiatives that make a difference to schools and young people. Quality information, accountability and effective project and program management are core to achieving this – building and assuring these practices across the Department is the remit of the SRT division.

SRT’s PMO drives and provides oversight of responses and initiatives that facilitate the delivery of the Department’s strategic intent. We do this by initiating, managing, and monitoring projects of strategic importance using project management methodologies to underpin collaboration, standardisation, and the timely delivery of key project milestones.

The allocation of staff to projects and initiatives within the division is flexible with the right people being drawn upon at the right time from across the division to support delivery of our collective business priorities based on the necessary skills and expertise. SRT team members are required to have the expertise and ability to support multiple projects at once and manage priorities to address changing business needs.

The Project Support Officer supports subject matter experts and project leads on the development of projects and programs. The role is responsible for coordination of meetings and calendars and undertakes a secretariat role for governance meetings and consultation, including the preparation of agendas and minutes. The position requires attention to detail to ensure documentation meets Department style guide standards and that record keeping requirements are met.

It is highly desirable that applicants have experience HP TRIM or similar records management software, and the Microsoft 365 suite of apps.

Cultural Diversity

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated well developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop solutions to problems and issues.
  2. Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver training programs and support materials.

Shortlisted applicants will have their skills and experiences in relation to the remaining selection criteria assessed in the further stages of the recruitment process. Remaining selection criteria can be found on the attached Job Description Form (JDF).
