This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Standards and Integrity Directorate within the Professional Standards and Conduct Division is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Manager of Complaints and Integrity Education. The Directorate is responsible for the delivery of a range of integrated functions including:

  • the administration of complaints regarding alleged breaches of discipline, misconduct and reportable conduct by staff
  • investigation of misconduct complaints and allegations against staff, including public interest disclosures, serious misconduct, breaches of discipline and reportable conduct
  • conducting reviews of critical incidents and making recommendations for improvement
  • delivery of professional learning related to professional standards and conduct.

In this leadership role, you will collaborate closely with the business to ensure adherence to the Department of Education's Code of Conduct, integrity standards, and frameworks. You will work across all business areas to identify regulatory changes, assess risks, and evaluate processes. Your expertise will contribute to the development of remediation strategies that aim to prevent fraud and corruption and enhance overall integrity within the organization.

As the Manager of Complaints and Integrity Education, you will oversee both the assessment team and the integrity education team. Your key responsibilities will include providing advice and analysis on complaints and misconduct matters, as well as developing integrity education programs to enhance the capabilities of our staff and reinforce ethical practices.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • complete a declaration prior to employment and annually thereafter disclosing any previous disciplinary findings, criminal charges or convictions, and ongoing conflicts of interest
  • provide a statement from previous employer/s with regard to any disciplinary findings
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement,
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy,
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment, and
    • the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
