We are seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

We are seeking suitable applicants who ideally have expertise in one (or both) of these areas:  

  • Specialised knowledge in student services and behaviour management support and/or
  • Leading curriculum and teaching quality. Ideally have line management experience for teachers and education assistants.

Suitable applicants will ideally be able to relate to and work alongside parents, teachers, and staff to support students at risk. The ability to seek out and work with external support services and lead all areas of special needs education from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be highly regarded. Ideally you will have a robust knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum, current research into best practice, data driven, have exceptional computer and Information Computer Technology (ICT) skills, with the ability to support, mentor and coach staff through performance management, to be flexible, supportive and approachable.

Applicants with experience in leading the implementation of Promoting Literacy Development (PLD) - Diana Rigg, Back 2 Front Mathematics and Seven Steps for Writing would be highly advantageous. Ability to lead and implement PBS is also an advantage as well as prior experience in working with students with complex trauma and high level needs. Applicants will ideally have the ability to collate and interpret whole school data to inform progress and model exceptional positive communication skills as well as being able to hold difficult conversations with respect. Leading improvement in Early childhood Education with a focus on explicit instruction and early intervention is also an advantage.

  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
