Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an innovative and dynamic Program Coordinator to lead our Student Services team for Years 11 and 12. The successful applicant will ideally possess exceptional organisation and interpersonal skills, inspire passion for learning in others while maintaining a strong focus on pastoral care.
In collaboration with members of the Senior Leadership team, Senior School team, and the Student Services team, the Program Coordinator - Senior School will ideally be a highly productive and influential team member who provides educational leadership in the school and the community by promoting the schools business plan priorities and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others, to share ownership of the schools vision and goals.
As the Program Coordinator – Senior School, you will provide effective leadership of the Year 11 and Year 12 cohorts, in collaboration with the Program Coordinator – Vocational Education and Training. Working with colleagues, you will be responsible for the analysis of student academic progress and achievement, attendance and behavioural data and the implementation of innovative plans to allow for more meaningful post-secondary pathways. Knowledge of WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) and pathway mapping for senior school students is integral to this role. As the Program Coordinator – Senior School the organisation of extra-curricular and social events is an expectation.
Kent Street SHS is proud to be an Independent Public School, located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, many who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs or reside at the Rotary Residential College located onsite. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area, with the ultimate aim that Kent Street SHS becomes their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
