Busselton Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a highly effective Student Services Program Coordinator (PCSS), to work alongside the existing Level 3 PCSS, with excellent knowledge and understanding of policy and procedures related to student services provision. The successful applicant will be highly organised, plan time very effectively whilst also having highly effective interpersonal skills. They will carry out their role in a manner that is inclusive and collaborative, using strong interpersonal skills and leadership attributes to ensure positive outcomes for all students.

The successful applicant should have strong leadership skills and the ability to provide - strategic direction for staff in promoting an inclusive student learning environment which includes highly developed case management skills, detailed understanding of current and emerging Department policies, and the ability to form partnerships with a range of stakeholders and multiple agencies.

They will collaborate effectively with the other Student Services staff to plan, implement, and monitor all student wellbeing programs using data to inform strategic planning. The successful applicant will lead, promote, and build upon the school’s Good Standing process which will form an important component of the positive support mechanisms. In doing so, they will need to ensure that co-designed documented plans are sufficiently detailed and communicated to all parties, while all case management procedures are applied in a consistent manner in accordance with policy requirements and clear timelines.

Role and Nature of the Position

It is envisaged that the Program Coordinator will oversee a coordinated team approach in a wide range of duties from managing whole school events, to case-management of at-risk students. The emphasis is on ensuring a safe and supportive environment and keeping students and families engaged in appropriate learning pathways.  

Busselton SHS has an improvement agenda focused on improving student outcomes through consistent approaches to pedagogy and positive behaviour strategies. The school reflects the values of the local community, promoting the school’s R.E.A.L values of respect, empathy, achievement and learn. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that display the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
