Medina Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal to join their administration team.

In collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the Deputy Principal provides educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness.  We are seeking an individual who has effective communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate respectfully, openly, and honestly with staff, students, and the school community,

Medina PS is an Independent Public School located in Kwinana, catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Medina Primary School values its rich cultural diversity. Literacy and Numeracy continue to be the two major priorities for the school, with the school receiving significant funding through the Federal Government's National Partnerships Initiative.

To support our Literacy and Numeracy focus we are looking to appoint a Deputy Principal who has a dedicated approach to professional learning based on evidence-based practice – Science of Learning. The Deputy will support the implementation of whole school low variance curriculum in these areas.

As Deputy principal, you will contribute to building a positive school culture and embrace the challenge of working in a school seeking to raise standards and improve student outcomes.

A knowledge of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) to support positive behaviour management would be ideal.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
