Champion Bay Senior High School is seeking a dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Partnerships and Transitions to join our Leadership team for a 12 month fixed term appointment.

This is a rare and exciting chance to continue to build on senior school pathway opportunities in a new senior school setting. There is an associated responsibility to operate and manage administrative and operational systems for enrolment and reporting of student VET achievement. As a secondary school with a focus on ICT and an established iPad program, the successful applicant will be expected to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy.

The Program Coordinator – Partnerships and Transitions will provide educational leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of sustainable VET pathways for students at Champion Bay Senior High School and provide post-secondary transition support to education, training, or employment. The successful applicant will be a strong leader who has demonstrated knowledge of senior schooling, VET, School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements, university and TAFE requirements and Departmental systems. Current relevant qualifications in the area of vocational education and an interest in career education would be desirable.

As the successful applicant, you will be an inspirational leader, able to provide direction to teachers, students, and parents, and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You will have ideally have administrative abilities and be capable of engaging and supporting the school’s programs to create a positive school environment. Working with the Career Practitioner, you will be developing and implementing a seamless Years 7-12 Career Education program as a key focus area, as well as seeking out and developing partnerships with local business and organisations with the aim of creating varied opportunities for our students.

The role will also cover the management of students enrolled on ADWPL Work Place Learning (WPL) programs and will require the applicant to work with key stakeholders in placing students in the workplace. This will include ensuring students are prepared for WPL to ensure they are work ready and have the required documentation required by industry.

Champion Bay Senior High School is an Independent Public School located in Geraldton. The school has a selective specialist STEM program ‘Champions Innovation Academy’ in Years 7 – 10 and has a strong partnership with the University of Western Australia, Curtin University and the Geraldton Universities Centre.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
