Clarkson Community High School (CHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Teacher – Visual Arts to join their friendly team.

Clarkson CHS is a small school with a strong focus on caring for all students and on creating a sense of community. We are working to ensure high expectations across all areas of the school. The Arts are an area of passion and strength for many of our students and provide the opportunity for students excel and express their creativity.

The successful applicant should be a passionate and dedicated educator, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, and understandings related to Visual Arts, supported by a variety of approaches to learning. Ideally, the successful applicant will have the qualification to deliver VET qualifications and to teach across more than one learning area.

The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. As part of a dedicated team, you will be required to develop, review, and deliver the Visual Arts curriculum. You should engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of practice to create environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.

The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable, and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. You should have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies, and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You will ideally be able to display an ability to work as a collaborative team member and be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success.

Clarkson CHS provides high-quality education to over 375 students in Years 7 to 12. We have high-quality teaching and a curriculum that engage and extend students. Clarkson CHS has a culture of high care and is building a culture of high expectation and high achievement. We have approximately 50 staff who are dedicated in helping students achieve their best and make the most of their education.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
