Are you a passionate educator who enjoys working in a supported team environment?

Please be aware that as of 8:50am Tuesday, 19 September 2023, the contact person has been updated

North Woodvale Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of innovative and committed K-6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

As a Teacher at our school, suitable applicants will ideally be passionate educators committed to making a difference in the lives of all young people. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be confident in providing an engaging education with a focus on maximising potential, guided by the desire to consistently seek to improve student learning.

To be suitable for this role, you should be highly motivated, energetic, team-focussed and student-centred people with qualities that promote, build and maintain professional relationships. You will ideally possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.

Suitable applicants should display the use of exemplary instructional practices that engage students and result in high levels of achievement and progress for all students. Teachers that can differentiate the curriculum through ‘best practice’ lesson design, instructional strategies and innovative and flexible program delivery will be considered advantageous.

Ideally, you will be self-reflective and committed to your own professional growth, using opportunities to gather, analyse and assess system, whole-of-school and classroom-based student achievement data in order to make evidence-based decisions about your own teaching practice, as well as the practice of collaborative teams, with a relentless focus on improving outcomes for all students.

The utilisation of peer and classroom observations and feedback to support professional development will form an important aspect of this role, as will the capacity to work as an active and effective member of a collaborative team, by sharing experiences and resources, responding to feedback and displaying an ongoing commitment to professional development. Teachers would be expected to engage regularly in honest, rigorous professional conversations about how to develop and improve practice with a constant focus on optimising student success and adhering to whole school practices and approaches.

In addition, suitable applicants should understand that social-emotional skills and positive student behaviour need to be explicitly modelled and taught on a daily basis. They should support and implement whole-of-school behaviour management strategies within their classrooms. At North Woodvale PS, we are committed to maintaining a strong culture centred on high standards and expectations.

Applicants who desire to teach in the early years (Kindergarten to Year 2) should support an approach to purposeful play-based learning that seeks to achieve specific outcomes for individual students through careful planning, deliberate and explicit learning goals and intentional teaching. You will ideally show a strong knowledge and commitment to the outcomes of the West Australian (WA) Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework with the National Quality Standards embedded in the learning environment.

Teachers who have additional expertise in key school approaches will be viewed favourably. These approaches include instructional skills, co-operative learning, high impact teaching strategies, restorative practice. Knowledge in the key areas of Heggerty, Letters and Sounds, Talk 4 Writing, URSTRONG and Brightpath are advantageous. First Steps Mathematics knowledge and/or Paul Swan strategies that promote the application of mathematical concepts through the use of hands-on manipulatives are also considered desirable.

It is highly desirable that suitable applicants are confident users of digital technologies and are able to integrate them across the curriculum as part of their teaching and learning programs. The effective use of interactive whiteboards as well as iPads and laptops as regular components of lesson design will be an important aspect of this role.

North Woodvale PS is an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Situated in Woodvale, the school is set in an attractive environment where every student is a valued member of the school and broader community.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.
