Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team.

About the role

The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic in the promotion of Health and Physical Education within the school and will be responsible for the coordination and organisation of all school sporting events as a part of the Physical Education Team. You should be well organised, motivated, and committed to developing positive relationships and have high expectations for all students.

Knowledge and competency in the Health and Physical Education component of the Western Australian (WA) Curriculum and reporting schedule is highly desirable. This position has a 0.6 HPE and 0.4 Dance teaching load. The ability to teach Dance, Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Physical Education Studies and/or Outdoor Education is also highly desirable.

Geraldton SHS is located next to the city centre in a parkland environment, the school is an architectural highlight of Geraldton. It caters for students in Year 7 to 12 and offers a diverse range of academic, vocational, social and service programs for its student population of around 1000 students.

The City of Greater Geraldton (CGG) is one of 9 regions of WA and has much to offer in terms of sport, culture and tourism. With a population of approximately 40,000, the CGG covers an area of approximately 472,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Mullewa and Walkaway. Apart from the significant sporting and cultural activities on offer, Geraldton itself is renowned for its quality lifestyle. Geraldton is the centre of the WA rock lobster industry along with the productive agricultural region that extends to the north, south and east of the city. An important part of the town is the Geraldton Port Authority which is responsible for moving a significant variety of produce such as grain, mineral sands, iron ore and other goods. During the wildflower season, the outlying areas of Geraldton are renowned for their stunning wildflowers.
