The Role and our Branch
The Pilbara Education Region is seeking a highly motivated Participation Coordinator.
Daily travel by car is a large part of the Participation Coordinator role to facilitate in person contact through visits to student’s homes, support services, providers, training providers and employers to provide direct support and optimise success of arrangements. This position covers schools within Tom Price and Newman, allowing you to reside in either town. Residing in Karratha is also an option with travel being required. Please note that accommodation in these areas is limited and applicants are requested to review housing options prior to applying as no housing is provided with this position.

The Participation Coordinator provides case brokerage and support services to upper secondary school-aged students at risk of disengaging from an effective transition into appropriate education, training, and employment options. The role is responsible for making appropriate assessment of individual students’ needs, including developing high-quality plans to access appropriate pathways to a range of post-school options. In addition to this you will develop and maintain an effective network of youth, employment, education and training services relevant to young people in the locality and across regions. You will collect data on participation strategies and monitor and report on client outcomes.
The successful applicant will possess the ability to communicate effectively with all key people, including students, parents, leadership teams in schools, agencies and industry. The successful applicant will ideally be culturally responsive and have sound interpersonal skills.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a current ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- undertake travel, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations, as required
- undertake travel in small aeroplanes to remote locations, as required
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
